Purchasing New Lockers: Purchasing Over The Internet

Purchasing lockers over the internet can be either a satisfying experience, a real nightmare, or anything in between. As with any other kind of purchase via the internet, you should carefully check out any company that you are dealing with when anticipating a locker purchase over the internet.

The internet has greatly empowered the buying public. Unfortunately, this has also led to "bottom line" pricing by most companies that sell directly over the internet. With lockers, this means that you may not get all of the crucial components that you need for a complete locker installation.

For example, when you purchase "packaged lockers" over the internet, you will normally be purchasing cartons of 1 or 3 lockers. A carton of 1 locker will have 2 sides; a carton of 3 lockers will have 4 sides. Let's say that you need 6 lockers and you want to build them in 3 groups. So you order 2 cartons of 3 lockers. You will receive a total of 8 side panels between the two cartons. The trouble is that you actually need 9 side panels to build these lockers in groups of 2. So now you are short a side panel. You can see from this example that you need to plan ahead carefully to make sure that you are ordering not only the proper quantity of lockers, but also the proper breakdown of carton quantities to insure enough materials to do your installation properly.

Furthermore, "packaged" lockers normally come unassembled, with 6" open legs, flat tops, with coat hooks, and with a single shelf in full-height lockers. Not included with standard packaged lockers are leg closure panels, sloping tops, finished end panels, any filler panels for wall-to-wall installation, corner tops (if you are coming out of a corner and running lockers on two walls), premium colors, any sort of locks, and even number plates in most cases. Furthermore, may companies who sell lockers over the internet will not even have these accessories available to you even if you know to ask for them.

This is where a specialty locker company becomes invaluable. The representative can walk you through all of the various options that you may need for a complete installation, and for lockers that will best suit your all around needs.

Purchasing New Lockers: Purchasing From A Locker Specialty Company

There are several advantages to purchasing lockers from a company specializing in locker sales. To begin with, a locker specialty company knows the locker business inside and out. They will take the time to listen to your needs and to suggest the type of locker that will best suit your needs.

Locker specialty companies are equipped to handle every type of locker project from just a few "packaged" lockers to very large and complex locker installations. Most specialty locker companies are also geared to help you with locker repair needs. They can furnish everything from nuts and bolts, to repair parts, to complete renovation of your existing lockers.

Locker specialty companies are generally willing and able to send a representative within their service area to meet with you, review your requirements, take measurements, and make recommendations. The representative will be able to answer all of your questions and concerns involving both new locker installations and renovation projects.

Locker specialty company have the ability to prepare a "shop" drawing, i.e., a layout drawing showing the floor plan and "elevations" (two-dimensional front and side views) to give you an idea of what your locker room will look like at the completion of the installation or renovation. In short, locker specialty companies bring with them an added measure of expertise and service that you will not be able to get with a material handling company or, certainly, from a catalog house. The additional personal attention provided by a locker specialty company is something that anyone ordering more than just a few lockers should seriously consider.
